The professor who told white men to “please quit” insists that she “survived” racism and misogyny and also lists her pregnancy as a professional experience on a “liberated” CV online.
Piper Harron, the University of Hawaii at Manoa math professor who said that universities should “stop hiring white cis men,” lists racism, misogyny, and pregnancy as experiences on a “liberated” CV posted to her blog.
Under “Educational Experiences” at New York University and Princeton University, Harron states that she “survived external and internalized misogyny,” “survived external and internalized racism,” and “survived pervasive and internalized cult of genius mythology.”
Under a four-year period labeled “Real Life, Single Lady of Arts in Oppression,” the professor lists that she “grew human in own body,” created milk for and gave birth to a baby, and “survived pregnancy, labor, and infant care related misogyny.”
Harron also has a “Denied Awards and Recognition” portion of her CV, which includes “Surviving patriarchy” and “surviving white supremacy.”
Alongside from this “liberated” CV, the professor has a professional CV on her blog.
“The opinions of individual faculty members exercising their free speech rights on open blogs do not necessarily represent the positions of the University of Hawaii,” said Dan Meisenzahl, president of the University of Hawaii, in an email to the 10 UH campuses. “In addition, as I have repeatedly affirmed, most recently this past February, the university stands firmly committed to providing a safe and inclusive work and learning environment, free of discrimination and intolerance.”
“We are also committed to the protection of constitutional rights of free expression and to diversity, including diversity of opinion. These commitments are stated plainly in our policies, including our employment policies, and have been longstanding and deeply held.”
The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Harron for comment, but received none in time for publication.
